It is with great sadness that I must announce the passing of my dad, John E. Duvernay, at the age of 87.  He was a signalman on board the USS Starr during WWII and was in the invasions of Iwo Jima (he watched both flag raisings) and Okinawa (the Starr was hit by a Japanese suicide boat).  He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.  As is Navy tradition:

 

"All Hands, Bury the Dead"
